Chris Isaak Detroit reviews
Hard Rock Live Indoor Concert at Wheatland / Sacramento
Brand new venue, park at the North side of the casino and the entrance is on your left as you go in. Doors opened at 7, Chris started just after 8. Pictures attached of the seating area, seems like all the seats had a lot of room. Played/talked for about 1 hour 45 minutes. Sound quality was good but a little low up in the balcony. Balcony was very open and had one of the two small bars open, also restrooms available on this level. Staff was new and getting used to things but very friendly.
Very Good Experience
I know most of Chris Isaak’s catalog, which is obviously quite expansive and covers the realm of sad ballads to rockabilly. In listening to a lot of his stuff going into the concert I created my own personal wish list of songs I hoped he would play. He did not disappoint. His set was well balanced. His band was tight as always.
I knew that CI had two tv shows and was renown as a very funny person. That easily exceeded my expectations. His banter was hilarious and often self-deprecating. It was refreshing to see a performer so comfortable in his own skin. I would also argue that he was a helluva funnier than some of the “professional” comedians I’ve paid to see.
This was a fun and enjoyable evening all around and there was the sense that both Chris and the audience fed off each other and had a really good time.
